It’s a Birthday Pawty!
Birthdays come but once a year—
So let’s have fun! That day is here!
For Lincoln, April 14 marked a special day: This lucky dog celebrated a birthday—his second! To honor the special occasion, we threw a little pawty for Lincoln in our garden.
Invitees included our Residents from St. Mary’s Home and Jugan Terrace, staff, and Little Sisters as well as some of our Lincoln Park neighbors, who brought their dogs. Bearing birthday presents and barking with delight, these furry friends of Lincoln were really excited to hang with the Big Dawg on his special day. They were more than ready to raise the woof!
Given the many guests who showed up, it’s easy to see Lincoln is probably one of the most pupular guys around.
The spring day was a bit chilly, but that didn’t damper any spirits. The weather certainly did not curtail any of the birthday boy’s excitement!
Lincoln looked quite fetching in his pawsh tie, mingling with Residents and scarfing down an offered dog biscuit or two (or more). No dieting on your birthday!
Our Residents enjoyed cake, ice cream, and hot chocolate, not to mention the unleashed antics of Lincoln and his friends. As the pandemic continues to drag on, being able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the company of friends and neighbors was invigorating and most welcome. On such a happy day, the refreshments seemed even more tasty and satisfying.
Lincoln and his buddies chased each other ran around the garden and engaged in a little ruffhousing. It’s to be expected, of course. Dogs will be dogs.
Lincoln and his neighborhood pals tore into the large tiered-cake that had been specially prepared and decorated for the occasion. Coming back again and again, they certainly got their licks in, getting frosting on their noses and taking a big bite out of this big cake. Indeed, little was left by the end of the afternoon.
With their parting gifts of doggy treats, the neighbor friends departed, looking furward to Lincoln’s birthday pawty next year.
By all accounts, the Residents, staff, Little Sisters, the neighbors, and the birthday boy had a howling good time.
