Pumpkins, Costumes, and Candy Galore!
We had quite the Monster Mash at this year’s Halloween party at St. Mary’s Home! Without a doubt, it was boo-tiful!
In the weeks leading up to the celebration, department staff were given pumpkins to do up, embellish, and reimagine for the pumpkin decorating contest—which featured a variety of things: from creatures of the night, to Barbie, to even a gumball machine! Residents were able to snack on cupcakes and listen to the greatest hits of Halloween music while voting on which spook-tacular pumpkin was their favorite.
Later on, we had a contest for best costume. To determine the winner, our Residents clapped and cheered for the most imaginative entry! Some of our personal favorites included a caterpillar and butterfly, hippies, a hot dog vendor and hot dog (actually a chihuahua!), and of course the three little pigs and the big bad wolf!
Finally, we were blessed with a visit from the students and faculty from St. Josaphat School. Students paraded through the auditorium in their fanciful and elaborate costumes as smiling Sisters and delighted Residents handed out candy. There were no tricks this Halloween—only treats!
Happy Halloween from all of us at St. Mary’s Home!
