Making new friends

  • December 12, 2011

“Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold . . .
You have one hand, I have the other. Put them together, we have each other . . .
Silver is precious, gold is too. I am precious, and so are you . . .
You help me, and I’ll help you and together we will see it through.”

Make New Friends Lyrics

Last week, we made 21 new friends, all of them members of the Oscar Mayer School’s Brownie Troop #23012.

The 2nd graders serenaded us with the well-known Girl Scouts’ tune, “Make New Friends.” Some of us sang along as we too had learned this song when our daughters were young. Then after the girls made their introductions, we started our craft project which was to make snowmen ornaments.

It took us about 30 minutes to cut each of the snow balls, glue on the eyes and nose, add the buttons and then put on the string to hang them up. We had a chance to admire everyone’s finished projects and celebrate our accomplishments with juice and cookies.

The time just flew by and the next thing we know we were saying ourgoodbyes. It was a fun way to make new friends!
