Birthday Bash Bingo
Monday, October 25, was the 229th birthday of St. Jeanne Jugan, and we didn’t want the day to slip by without a little merriment on this special occasion!
In the afternoon, members of the Association of Jeanne Jugan (AJJ)—including Josephine Mendoza, Liz Stubbits, Mary Hurley, Charmaine Biskup, and Sue Regan, and Pat Landini—continued the merriment with a special edition of bingo—a birthday bash bingo!
Decorating our auditorium with an eye toward Halloween, the AJJ also delivered a tasty treat for the eye and the taste buds: irresistible, wickedly delicious cupcakes styled as bingo balls. These were in addition to the tempting offerings of the candy tree, myriad snacks, and more.
As is invariably the case at St. Mary’s Home, no matter the occasion, the rounds of bingo are intense and spirited, with Residents attentively listening for the numbers, eyeing the competitors, and intently scanning their own cards, hoping their winning space will be called out.
With each bingo ball, the excitement grows. B4 . . . O70 . . . G—Who will win?!
This afternoon was no different, with the winning participants crying out “Bingo” with great gusto and beaming satisfaction. No amateurs here. The competition remains fierce among these seasoned players! And no one is above being challenged on their declared winning space.
Good thing helpful AJJ members were on the scene to check the cards!
The sign on the wall of the auditorium offers good advice to the novice and the experienced bingo player alike: What happens at Bingo …
