March for Life
By Mother Julie
On January 11, Little Sisters from Chicago and Palatine joined thousands of others in the annual March for Life Chicago. In spite of the sleety, damp weather, marchers displayed strong spirits!
The March, organized as a Midwest complement to the national march in Washington, draws an increasingly larger crowd every year. Although the marches are timed to coincide with the date of the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion, the Little Sisters march as representatives of respect for human dignity at the end of the life spectrum.
The theme for this year’s Chicago March, “Life Empowers” reminds us that our care for human life makes us better persons – by opening ourselves up to the gift of life we find ourselves better able to welcome and face so many other events that occur.
May the efforts and sacrifices of all those who planned and participated in the March bear much fruit!
