Family Visits
We are excited to announce family visits have started!
After an extended period of physical separation, our Residents have begun reuniting with their loved ones—but at a safe social distance and protected by face masks. A Resident, along with one prescreened family member or friend, can visit for 30 minutes outside in our beautiful garden at St. Mary’s Home.
In mid-March we had to go into lockdown as a precaution against COVID-19, so it has taken a frustratingly long, long time to reach this modest moment.
Nonetheless, these outside visits mark a significant first step as we inch closer and closer toward not only big warm hugs and wide visible smiles but normal and lively activity around St. Mary’s Home.
Proceeding with abundant caution and following the guidelines issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health, we have taped off the garden area and arranged the seating to maintain strict social distance during these much-longed-for visits.
Although faces may be masked, a palpable joy clearly radiates from Resident and visitor as they converse and catch up after being so long apart. And we are happy to be able to welcome back our families to St. Mary’s Home.
