May thy ball lie in green pastures, and not in still waters.
– Ben Hogan
It was another glorious day for Little Sisters of the Poor’s 12th Annual Habits on the Green fundraiser held at the historic Midlothian Country Club! The day kicked off with a fabulous lunch on the Club patio, along with the always entertaining Peter Longo golf show. As he always does, Peter had the crowd in awe of his masterful trick shots! Following lunch, the golfers commenced slaying the celebrated Midlothian golf course… or perhaps not! Though stingy with pars and two-putts, the Midlothian Course was flawless and offered beautiful scenery to match mostly blue skies and perfect conditions for a fantastic round for all. Following golf, guests enjoyed a smooth summer evening cocktail party and swiftly pounced upon the sensational deals offered at the silent auction tables!
Following a delicious dinner and dessert, we were delighted to honor Margaret Mary and John Conley. The Conleys have been devoted supporters of St. Mary’s throughout the years, serve on the Lay Advisory Board and are exceptionally generous with their time and talents. Perhaps the highlight of their special evening occurred when the Little Sisters, joined by the voices of the crowd at large, serenaded the Conley Family with a melodious version of When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, which indeed they were! Once more, thank you Margaret Mary and John for all the two of you do in support of the Little Sisters’ mission of humble service to the elderly poor.
See you all next year on June 9, 2014!
