Breakfast with Santa
To celebrate the ever-anticipated arrival of Christmas in just four days, Residents of St. Mary’s Home kicked off the celebration with breakfast with Santa! The Residents rose from their beds, bright eyed and bushy tailed, excited to begin their fun filled holiday. Some Residents chose to wear festive shirts, the others donned silly socks! The auditorium was alive with Christmas cheer, with musical Christmas melodies ringing loud for all to hear. Smells of steaming hot eggs, sausage and crispy bacon made everyone’s eyes widen and mouths water. After filling their bellies, Residents were overjoyed with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus who had brought with them a sleigh full of gifts! Jolly St. Nick, with twinkling eyes and dimples merry, handed out perfectly personalized presents for each delighted Resident.
However, although everyone was enjoying the decorations, presents, and spectacle of the season, Residents were simply pleased to be enjoying time together during a time of year that means so much to so many. Someone once told this author, “Christmas isn’t about candy canes, holly, or lights all aglow. It’s about the lives that we touch, and the care that we show.”
May we always remember how blessed we are to have love for each other this holiday season.
