Dear Families and Friends of our Residents,

Greetings from all of us at St. Mary's! By now I have met many of you, but I'm happy to say hello again and to introduce myself to those I haven't met. I arrived in Chicago in February, coming from a short stay in San Pedro, California. Prior to that I was your neighbor in Palatine, so I am familiar with the area and happy to be back in Chicagoland.

All is well here, thank God. Only one staff member recently tested positive for Covid, and this person was not on duty at the time. We continue to be vigilant regarding Infection Control Practices; keeping our elders healthy is the top priority.

When visiting, please continue to sign in at the kiosk. Masks are still required. We ask that anyone with any respiratory/cold symptoms/fever refrain from visiting. We regularly receive updates and mandates from the City of Chicago, Department of Public Health, and are still asked not to admit visitors 17 years of age and younger.

In spite of all the regulations, we still manage to enjoy life here! Barbeques, Bingo in the park, and chair yoga in the morning sun keep spirits up. The architectural boat tour, and a few museum trips were well attended, and we are looking forward to a White Sox game in the near future! (if anyone wants to give us Cub tickets we'd be more than happy to do that, as well!) These things, as well as many other activities and outings energize and refresh us all.

Our spiritual life is also regularly nourished. In the Catholic Church, the United States Bishops have called for a "Eucharistic Revival" during the next 3 years. As we respond enthusiastically to this invitation to become more aware of the great gift of the Eucharist, we are striving to share the beauty of our faith with all who are associated with our Home. Tomorrow we will be welcoming a large "Eucharistic Miracles" exhibit; several of these exhibits have been on display in over 100 University campuses and thousands of parishes in the country and throughout the world. For those who are interested, check out this link: http://www.miracolieucaristici.org

If you would like to come and see the exhibit, please do. It will be in our auditorium this Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 all day, both days. Residents and their visitors are able to visit, quietly pray, and learn more about the amazing gift that the Eucharist is for us all. We are very privileged to have the exhibit here in our home for these two days and would be very happy for you to see it and spend some quiet, quality time with your loved ones while enjoying this
display.

Thank you and God bless!

Sincerely,
Mother Margaret Charles, lsp
Superior
