The way I see it, the elderly just want to be treated as anyone else – with kindness, respect, laughter and love. I don’t think of my work as caring for the Residents, the Residents take care of me. They have made me feel loved and needed in their lives. The Sisters have shown me how faith helps you get through the challenges of life. I love being able to be a part of a great team and bringing some laughter into the lives of others. I am grateful for the wisdom the Residents have given me- they have helped me become a better me.

St. Mary’s Home is one of the best homes in Chicago. When the Residents are here, I know they are very well taken care of! I find joy in taking care of the elderly who are not able to take care of themselves. I love the family spirit here. For example, we used to have two Residents, Louise and Edith, who would race downstairs in the morning in their wheelchairs and make coffee for all of the other Residents. They are always thinking of ways to help each other.
